Infectious Disease Specialist Joins Eastern Panhandle Practice

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – West Virginia University Hospitals-East and Panhandle Medical Associates recently welcomed Matthew Simmons, MD, infectious disease specialist, to the Eastern Panhandle.

Simmons, who is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible for infectious disease, has joined the internal medicine practice of Panhandle Medical Associates which includes Jeffrey DeBord, DO, Roberto Reyna, MD, Cathy Funk, MD, Romulo Estigoy, MD and Travis Schildt, MD.

For the past two years, Simmons has been completing a fellowship in infectious disease at WVU Hospitals in Morgantown. He holds a medical degree from the WVU School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at WVU Hospitals.

As an infectious disease specialist, Simmons has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. He also specializes in infections of the sinuses, heart, brain, lungs and other organs.
