Maternal/Family Education

Birthing Class Series
A 4-week class series providing information on maternal changes, normal fetal development, nutrition, common discomforts and solutions, stages of labor and delivery, breathing and relaxation techniques, pain management, cesarean delivery, infant care and more.

City Campus:

• A Tuesday evening series begins on August 3, 2010, with another to start on September 28. A Thursday evening series begins on September 9. All sessions are held from 7-9 p.m. in the Hospital's 8th Floor Classroom. The fee is $75 for the entire 5-week series, or $15 per class. Pre-register is required by calling 304-264-1297-menu selection #2.

Jefferson Campus:

• Held on Thursday evenings, a 4-week series begins on July 1, 2010, with another to start on September 2. Sessions are held from 7-9 p.m. in the Hospital's 1st Floor Conference Room. The cost is $60 for series. Pre-registration is required by calling 304-728-1713.

Breastfeeding Class — FREE
Taught by a certified lactation consultant, mothers will learn the basics of breastfeeding their infants. Offered the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in City Hospital's Meeting Room 1. Pre-registration is required by calling 304-264-1270 weekdays between 8 - 4 p.m.

Childbirth Refresher Class
This class provides an overview of the latest developments in birthing options, medications and comfort techniques. To be held August 2, 2010 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. in City Hospital's Meeting Room 2. The cost is $15. Pre-registration is required by calling 304-264-1297-menu
selection #2.

Sibling Class
Help your young children prepare for their new role as a "big" brother or sister. The class, held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in City Hospital's 8th Floor Classroom, will be offered on August 2, 2010 and again October 4. The cost is $10 per family and must be prepaid. Pre-registration is required by calling 304-264-1270 weekdays between 8 - 4 p.m.
