At WVUH-East, we are fortunate to benefit from a dedicated group of men and women who volunteer their time in support of our mission to improve the health status of Eastern Panhandle residents by providing high-quality health and wellness services, expanding access to care, and participating in the education of healthcare professionals.
To participate in our Volunteer Program individuals must:
To request a Volunteer Application, contact the WVUH-East Marketing Department at 304-264-1223. The application, which will be mailed to your home address, allows you to select the particular hospital (City Hospital or Jefferson Memorial Hospital) in which you desire to volunteer.
Once your completed application has been received and satisfactory reference checks have been completed, you will be contacted to schedule an interview with your preferred hospital's volunteer coordinator, as positions become available.
Through a variety of fundraisers and special events, The Auxiliary of City Hospital, works year round to raise money to benefit patient care services at City Hospital. The Auxiliary meets the 2nd Monday of each month in City Hospital's 8th Floor Classroom. For information on joining The Auxiliary of City Hospital, contact the WVUH-East Marketing Department at 304-264-1223.
City Hospital has a pool of volunteer clergy who serve the hospital in addition to their parish duties. On a rotating schedule, chaplains are on-call for patients and their families to provide many different services including Holy Communion, Holy Baptism, or counseling. For more information on the Volunteer Chaplaincy Program at City Hospital, call 304-264-1223.
At Jefferson Memorial Hospital, volunteers also serve as members of the Auxiliary. The group hosts numerous events throughout the year to raise funds to benefit patient care services at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. The Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary meets the 4th Wednesday of each month in the Hospital's First Floor Conference Room.
A Junior Volunteer Program for teens, ages 14—18, is available during the summer months at both City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Applications for the program are available in the spring at area high school counselor offices or interested teens may contact the WVUH-East Marketing Department, at 304-264-1223.
